Made up of the 48 top performing clubs in Cheshire. Sitting proudly at the apex of the Cheshire pyramid we comprise four divisions of 12 teams - Premier, Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3.

Additionally, there are Associate Clubs participating in the extensive Sunday 3rd XI competitions and the long established, midweek over 40s tournament.

Under separate management is a County-wide network of junior competitions.

The CCCL was formed in 1975 when eleven clubs from the Manchester Association and one from the Lancashire & Cheshire League bravely took the plunge andjoined the new set up. There were further intakes in 1981 (two clubs), 1993 (10), 1996 (2) and a significant expansion in 1998 when another11 clubs became members. Over the years there have been new joiners and leavers with since the pre-millenniumexpansion thestructure based on 36 clubs having been the preferred format, until the 2022 season when the League expanded to 48 clubs.

Below the Cheshire County Cricket League is the Cheshire Cricket League.

Promotion and relegation is between all the divisions in the Cheshire competitions representing a classic county pyramid model.
