The Eredivisie gets underway this weekend and there are a number of talented youngsters set to make a big impact. Michael Bell picks the top 35 youngsters to keep an eye on this season.
The top clubs in Europe are circling the English youth international, but Madueke seems set to remain in Eindhoven this season and he is most certainly one of the brightest talents in the Eredivisie.
The pacey winger was in and out of Roger Schmidts side last season but this time around he is one of the first names on the teamsheet. In five games already this season, Madueke has four goals and an assist.
The 19-year-old recently scored twice in the 4-0 win over Ajax and he will be looking to guide PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title.
A revelation in the Eredivisie last season, Timber broke into Erik ten Hags starting eleven and also made it to Euro 2020 with the Netherlands.
The 20-year-old is a versatile ball-playing centre-back, who plays like a seasoned veteran despite his young age. Reliable, calm under pressure, and with plenty of ability on the ball, Timber will be looking to cement his place as a starter in the Ajax defence.
Timber is part of the new wave of young talents breaking through in Amsterdam and he will be looking to make a big impact in the Eredivisie and the Champions League.
After impressing during pre-season, Ernest Poku looks set to make his big breakthrough in the Eredivisie.
The 17-year-old is a powerful and strong right-winger, who can also play through the middle. He has been excelling in the AZ academy for years and now the departure of Calvin Stengs may give Poku the chance to break into Pascal Jansens squad.
Poku is a Netherlands U16 international, who only made his professional debut with Jong AZ last season. His development has been swift but AZ may just have another exciting attacking talent on their hands.
After signing a new long-term contract, Emanuel Emegha is ready to make his big breakthrough at Sparta Rotterdam.
The 18-year-old striker made a number of appearances for Henk Frasers side last season and he scored his first Eredivisie goal. However, most of the appearances were from the bench.
After impressing in pre-season, Emegha is now set for a more key role in Spartas line-up and he could be one of the most exciting young strikers to come through in the Netherlands recently.
Emegha is a strong, quick, and direct striker, who has already been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
The outstanding talent in the Ajax line-up, Gravenberch is heading into the campaign as a guaranteed starter for Erik ten Hags side and key emerging talent for the Netherlands.
The powerful midfielder, who has been compared to Frank Rijkaard and Paul Pogba, has already made 62 appearances for Ajax, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
Still only 19-years-old, Gravenberch may be heading into his final season with Ajax after the midfielder openly admitted he could make a move abroad next summer. If he excels in the Eredivisie and Champions League then the biggest clubs in Europe will all be queuing to sign the midfielder.
Last season was meant to be the breakthrough year for the Utrecht midfielder, but Van den Berg suffered an injury that kept him out for most of the campaign.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is now fit again and he will be looking to cement his place in Rene Hakes starting eleven. A ball-winning midfielder, Van den Berg is strong in the tackle but also technical with the ball at his feet.
The former PSV youth is yet to make his Eredivisie debut but that should come quickly this season and the tenacious youngster is one to watch.
One of the big revelations in the Eredivisie last season, Oosterwolde had an excellent first starting campaign for FC Twente and he will be looking to build on that.
The powerful and direct attacking left-back made 26 Eredivisie appearances last season, scoring once and providing three assists.
Oosterwolde will be looking to excel in a revitalised Twente side that are aiming for a spot in the European playoffs this season. If he impresses then a move to a major club could follow next summer.
Despite interest from all the top Eredivisie sides, Dirk Proper remained loyal to NEC Nijmegen and the talented midfielder will now be looking to excel in his first Eredivisie campaign.
The 19-year-old is a regular for Netherlands at youth level and has already made 40 first-team appearances for NEC Nijmegen, scoring once.
The defensive midfielder has excellent vision and technical ability on the ball, but can he handle Eredivisie level? Proper could be one of the revelations of the season if he can.
The 19-year-old joined Groningen in January from AIK with a big reputation and he will now look to excel in his first full Eredivisie campaign.
The talented attacker scored twice in 13 appearances for Groningen last season and showed glimpses of what he is capable of. A winger, who can also play through the middle, Abraham will be looking to cement a place in Groningens starting eleven, and the Swede will be looking to use the club as a stepping stone to stardom, like Arjen Robben and Luis Suarez did in the past.
Abraham is quick, tricky, and capable of scoring goals. The one to watch in the Euroborg.
Donyell Malen may have left, but PSV Eindhoven have a very talented young striker looking to make his big breakthrough.
Fofana made the move to Barcelona in 2013 but he had to leave the club after they breached transfer rules. He returned to the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven and has now impressed in the clubs academy.
Fofana has nine goals for Jong PSV and recently made his first-team debut in the Champions League qualifiers. The great news for PSV is that the 18-year-old is set to sign a new long-term deal to stay at the club.
His development is rapid and he was recently named in the provisional Netherlands U21 squad.
The 18-year-old midfielder got his chance to impress new Feyenoord boss Arne Slot during pre-season and he has grabbed it with both hands.
Hartjes made his debut for the first team during the Europa Conference League and looks set to be a member of the first-team squad this season.
Hartjes, who bases his game on Frenkie de Jong, is a calming influence on the ball and has a good range of passing. This could be his big breakthrough year in De Kuip.
Sergino Dest departed Ajax last summer but he was not missed because of the emergence of Rensch, who effortlessly stepped into Erik ten Hags side.
The 18-year-old right-back made 27 appearances for Ajax last season, contributing three goals and adding two assists.
Rensch looked strong in the attack and solid defensively and he has now been called into the Netherlands provisional squad by Louis van Gaal. This season he will battle with Noussair Mazroui, but Rensch can also slot in at left-back.
AZ need their young talents to step up this season and the one that could shine is Mohamed Taabouni, who has been on the cusp of his breakthrough for a while now.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play on the wing, has been a star in the clubs academy and for Netherlands youth sides. However, he has only made one first team appearance so far.
Taabouni is an excellent dribbler and is a creative force, who has contributed 11 goals and 11 assists for Jong AZ Alkmaar in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The 19-year-old is waiting for his chance to shine in the Eredivisie.
If he doesnt get it soon, Taabouni may look to depart the club on loan or even permanently.

Manchester City snapped up the exciting Serbian talent but immediately loaned the winger to Heerenveen.
The 18-year-old has made 72 appearances for Partizan Belgrade despite his young age and is considered to be one of the brightest young talents in Europe. He now gets a chance to impress in the Eredivisie with Heerenveen, who are hoping to challenge for a European playoff spot.
A speedy and tricky winger, who can score goals, Stevanovic has the talent to take the Eredivisie by storm.
NEC are back in the Eredivisie and one of their talents tipped to impress the most is winger Elayis Tavzan, who is still with the club despite interest from Besiktas.
The 20-year-old struggled to break through at Sparta Rotterdam, but the Netherlands youth internationals form has exploded since he joined NEC. In 39 games, Tavzan has scored 11 goals and added eight assists for the club.
Now, Tavzan needs to prove he can perform in the Eredivisie which should be a breeze for the forward, who is blessed with pace, excellent dribbling ability, and creativity.
Vitesse Arnhem are once again looking to challenge for a top-four spot and one of the players set to break into their first-team is versatile full-back Million Manhoef.
The 19-year-old has been slotted in at several different positions already for Vitesse and he made a big impression during pre-season. In the two appearances so far in the Europa Conference League, Manhoef has been a left-wing back and a right-wing back.
Manhoef is quick, strong, and an excellent dribbler. His versatility will make him a regular for Thomas Letsch this season and he is being tipped to excel.
There arent many players in the Eredivisie who have developed as rapidly over the last year as Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.
The 21-year-old has made 90 appearances for the Feyenoord first team, but over the past season he has stepped up his game and he is now a top-class full-back.
Tenacious in the tackle, strong defensively, and dynamic going forward, Malacia has it all. Bayern Munich and Ajax are reportedly circling, but Malacia has signed a new deal in Rotterdam.
The left-back was also boosted by a place in Louis van Gaals provisional Netherlands squad. Due to his development, there is no reason why Malacia cannot make the starting spot in Oranje his own.
FC Twente have been active on the transfer market this summer, but their academy has also produced a gem in Thijs van Leeuwen, who made 21 appearances for the club last season, scoring three times.
The speedy left-winger, who can also play in the middle, has plenty of competition for a starting spot this season but if given the chance he is ready to excel.
The 20-year-old has previously played as a central midfielder in the Twente academy, but his pace, dribbling ability, and strong right foot make him a dangerous winger.
The gem of Groningens midfield at the moment is Suslov, who was part of the Slovakian squad for the recent Euro 2020 tournament.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been with Groningen since 2018 and he made 29 appearances in the Eredivisie, scoring twice and adding five assists. This season, Suslov will be hoping to take the next step in his development and showcase his immense talent throughout a whole campaign.
A technically excellent midfielder, with great dribbling ability, vision, and scoring ability, Suslov has it all and he will be looking to take centre stage in the Euroborg.
After impressing for Jong Ajax over the last two seasons, Kenneth Taylor seems set to move into the Ajax first team.
The 19-year-old midfielder has already made three first-team appearances in Amsterdam and was a regular during pre-season for Erik ten Hags side.
Taylor is a versatile midfielder, who can slot in as a playmaker or sit deeper in a defensive role. He is a leader on the pitch with excellent passing ability and vision. Taylor can score goals and likes to take shots from distance.
The Netherlands youth international will start the season as a back-up for the starting eleven but he could break into Ten Hags side more regularly as the season goes on.
Fresh from an impressive loan spell with Den Bosch, Postema is ready to make a mark on the Eredivisie with Groningen.
A prolific scorer at youth level, Postema has been tipped for big things since a young age, and he made his debut for Groningen at 17. During his debut season in the first team, he made eleven appearances but did not find the net.
Last season, Postema was loaned to Den Bosch and he netted an impressive twelve times and provided eight assists in 28 games. The talented forward will now be looking to take that confidence into the new campaign and he will be given a chance in Danny Buijs side.
Speedy and a deadly finisher, Postema could be the next striker to make a big name for himself at the Euroborg.
ADO Den Haag may have been relegated but their star player by a long way was right-back Milan van Ewijk, who was quickly snapped up by Heerenveen.
In Friesland, Van Ewijk will be looking to enhance his growing reputation and prove he is one of the Netherlands brightest talents at right-back.
Pacey, strong, and technically gifted, Van Ewijk has everything a right-back needs to succeed in the Eredivisie. At Heerenveen he can follow in the footsteps of Daryl Janmaat and Denzel Dumfries, who used Heerenveen as a stepping stone to the top of the Eredivisie.
A prolific scorer for Feyenoords academy, is this the season that Bannis breaks through into the Feyenoord first team?
The Netherlands youth international has made 17 appearances for Feyenoord over the past few seasons but he has so far only scored once. A loan spell with Dordrecht last season was more productive with Bannis netting five times in 17 games.
In pre-season, Arne Slot has given the 19-year-old chances and with Nicolai Jorgensen departing, Bannis will be hoping he can get chances.
Bannis has pace and good movement and if he can become add some more strength then he has what it takes to become an effective centre-forward.
Roger Schmidts arrival in Eindhoven last summer was great news for Teze, who was thrust straight into the line-up as a centre-back.
The 21-year-old excelled and his powerful performances earned him plenty of praise throughout the campaign. Teze came through the academy also playing as a right-back and this is set to be his main position this season after the departure of Denzel Dumfries.
A tireless runner and a strong tackler, Teze has all the attributes to be a future Netherlands right-back and he will be looking to catch Louis van Gaals eye this season.
He may only be 17 but Rav van den Berg is already knocking on the door of the PEC Zwolle first team and is looking to follow in his older brother Sepps footsteps.
A talented centre-back, Van den Berg was linked with a move to Ajax this summer, but he decided to remain loyal to PEC Zwolle and signed a new deal. He made his Eredivisie debut last season and will now be hoping to make his breakthrough and become a regular.
Van den Berg is a central defender, but may be given a chance in this season at right-back.
Willem II flirted with relegation last season but one of their bright sparks was the emergence of Spieringhs, who broke into the first team.
The 19-year-old is a tenacious defensive midfielder who loves to tackle and excels at winning back possession.
Spieringhs made 21 appearances for Willem II last season and will be hoping he remains a key player under new head coach Fred Grim.
Feyenoord may be witnessing the breakthrough of a major talent with Antoni Milambo recently making his debut at the age of 16. He became the youngest player to ever represent Feyenoord and the youngest Dutchman to ever feature in a European match.
Milambo is an attacking midfielder with excellent dribbling ability, who has set tongues wagging with several eye-catching appearances during pre-season.
Arne Slot is set to give chances to Feyenoords brightest talents this season and Milambo may end up being the pick of the bunch despite his age. A very exciting talent to watch in Rotterdam.

Regarded as one of the biggest talents in the AZ academy for years, Goudmijn is now getting the chance to get regular playing time on loan with Sparta Rotterdam.
The 19-year-old has made 83 appearances for Jong AZ Alkmaar, scoring seven times and adding ten assists. However, first-team chances have been sparse with Goudmijn only racking up 47 minutes over six matches.
The creative midfielder can now prove he can handle the Eredivisie level with Sparta and this could be his big breakthrough season.
The Belgian youngster has signed on for a second loan spell with Vitesse Arnhem from Club Brugge and he will be looking to impress once again in the Eredivisie.
The speedy forward has netted 13 times and provided five assists in 39 appearances for Vitesse, who are looking to challenge the top four once again.
Openda will be a key player for Thomas Letsch and he will be the main threat in the Arnhem sides attack with his finishing, speed and tenacity.
Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs have both departed Alkmaar, but Wijndal has remained and he will be one of the leaders for AZ this season.
The talented left-back has been impressing for AZ for the last two seasons and he now has 11 caps for the Dutch national team.
Wijndal is solid defensively and reliable on the ball, but this season he will be looking to add more going forward, which has been a criticism of his game when he has appeared in Oranje.
Netherlands have so many talented full-backs coming through but Wijndal may be the best of them all if he can develop his game further this season.
Ajaxs brilliant Brazilian winger heads into the new campaign on the back of helping his country win gold at the Olympic games.
Antony has been with Ajax since 2020 and has contributed 10 goals and 10 assists in 46 appearances for the club. This season, he will be looking to further grow his reputation and will be targetting an impressive Champions League campaign.
Capable of playing on either wing, Antony is powerfully direct, quick, an excellent dribbler and can finish. He has it all to be an excellent forward and has already been linked with a big-money move to Bayern Munich.
Belgian forward Yorbe Vertessen has battled back from a long-term injury to become a regular for PSV Eindhoven since Roger Schmidt took charge last season.
Vertesen is a quick, hard working and tenacious centre-forward, who can also play on the wings. In 22 appearances so far for PSV he has three goals and four assists.
In the Johan Cruijff Schaal win over Ajax, Vertessen provided a goal and an assist and he will be looking to take that confidence into a full campaign with PSV. He is currently a back-up but should get plenty of chances from the bench and you can expect him to excel.
The only goalkeeper on the list is Sparta Rotterdam sensation Maduka Okoye, who made the number one jersey at the club his own last season.
Okoye is an excellent shot stopper with good technical skills and he was a big reason why the club managed to finish in the European playoff spots last season.
This summer, Okoye was heavily linked with a move to AZ Alkmaar, but the 21-year-old South African decided to sign a new long-term contract with Sparta.
Despite his young age, Okoye is already one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league and it wont be long before several major clubs around Europe are circling.
The dynamic midfielder joined Ajax last summer but had an indifferent first campaign in Amsterdam, that was hampered by an injury that caused a loss of form.
Kudus was limited to 17 Eredivisie appearances but contributed four goals and three assists. The talented Ghanian showcased his immense talents at times but will be hoping that this season will be his major breakthrough.
Kudus is a box to box midfielder with excellent dribbling ability and the ability to pick out a stunning pass from anywhere on the pitch. The 21-year-old has the abiity to be one of the most eye-catching midfielders in the Eredivisie and he could also excel in the Champions League this season if he can remain 100% fit.
PEC Zwolle are a club set to be flirting with relegation this season and they will need Slobodan Tedic to fill his potential in order to keep them away from the drop zone.
The 21-year-old Serbian striker was loaned to PEC Zwolle last season from Manchester City but injuries restricted him to 15 league appearances, in which he netted twice.
Tedic, who is a powerful centre-forward, will once again spend the season with PEC Zwolle and will be hoping for a more prolific campaign.
